The tournament, in its third edition, is the brainchild of Pick n Pay and Cresta Jwaneng. Cresta Jwaneng general manager, Godfrey Dzingayi described this year’s tournament as a success as it saw 38 companies responding to the call of charity to be part of the event.

“The support from Jwaneng companies and from around the country has been overwhelming and we are hoping for the best next year. We are pleading with companies to come forth to support charity,” Dzingayi said. Pick n Pay managing director, Sethata Seremane said they approached Cresta to partner with them to organise a charity event in order to support the less privileged.  He said they also talked to suppliers to come on board and the event was a success. Seremane added that the business environment is not easy and they were happy to see companies coming forward to support charity even during the difficult economic times. He said they are looking forward to improving the tournament next year. The charity golf day has been an eye-opener and all the proceeds will go to charity.  “The past three years have been successful and we hope to continue hosting it annually,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jwaneng mayor Obed Monkge applauded the organisers adding that it is upon the community to assist the government in helping the less privileged.  He said the money will restore dignity to the family. He urged the Jwaneng community to outnumber businesses from outside in the coming tournament.

Meanwhile, Ron Day was awarded the longest drive prize in men’s category while Musa Magowe  clinched the gong in the women’s section.  Day was also honoured for being the best player while Bidvest Company scooped the most popular hole award. The best branded team award went to AON Company. Nashua walked away as the overall winner of this year’s tournament.
