Sebego told Mmegi Sport his intention is to see the team back in the BTC Premiership after two deflating seasons in the First Division.

Notwane will have to shed a lingering tag as a fading giant, having dominated the local scene in the mid-1990s, but has hit consistent turbulence.

Toronto were relegated to the First Division two years ago as the management failed to heed  ominous signs.

Sebego is now on a mission to revive the team.

“The immediate plan is to come up with a strategy for the team, short, medium and long term.  Like they say ‘failing to plan is planning to fail’,” he said yesterday.

“My general objectives are to regain BPL status, revive Youth Development structures, strengthen administration and build partnerships with the corporate entities; rebrand the team and finally to improve Players Welfare.”

He said a planned strategic retreat will speak to the club’s shortcomings and come up with solutions thereto.

Notwane have faced perennial financial challenges, which were partly to blame for the team’s relegation to the First Division.

Despite producing talented players such as Dirang and Pontsho Moloi, Mpoeleng ‘Stopper’ Mpoeleng, Galabgwe Moyana and Lemogang Maswena, Notwane struggled to hold on to its prized assets as the financial muscle of rivals dismantled the Sechaba squad.
