Masisi said this yesterday when welcoming three newly-recruited members from the Botswana Congress Party (BCP).

The trio who were paraded before the members of the media include Biki Rankebekwa who was the constituency secretary for Lobatse, Goitseone Mfaladi and Thabo Motswetla who were council candidates for Tsopeng South and Tsopeng North wards respectively in Lobatse during the 2014 general elections.

Masisi said the party has embarked on a successful targeted recruitment drive of people from the opposition parties in preparation for the 2019 elections.

He said the BDP is compelled to add more members to position itself as the party of choice in the 2019 general elections.

“We have embarked on a recruitment drive. It has been a successful targeted recruitment of people from the opposition. We are not targeting any party in particular, although there is one, which we have taken more from it. We cannot relax,” said Masisi.

He further said with reviewed and refreshed programmes, the party will inspire more hope for Batswana beyond 2019.

Rankebekwa, who spoke to Mmegi on the sidelines after his welcome, said he has always been a member of the BDP until he left to join the BCP for personal reasons.

“I was not bought to rejoin the BDP. I have no price. The instability within the opposition parties forced me to leave the BCP. It was time I rejoined the BDP,” he said.

Meanwhile, Masisi also welcomed newly-recruited members of the University of Botswana student representative council, including the vice president, minister of finance and entertainment. The recruits, who joined GS-26, are all from Mass BNF.
