The six-time BOMU award winner is the talk of town after his heroic performance where he made a grand entrance by ascending from a crane. But that was just the tip of the iceberg because the Khiring Khiring Khorong Khorong hit maker will face yet another Nigerian artist.

There’s a huge network of great artists coming out of West Africa specifically Nigeria. Consequently, Nigerian music has even crept into Southern African listeners’ realisation and Tekno will be second artist to perform in Botswana this year before Wizkid and BurnaBoy wrap it up next month.

Tekno on the other side will be expected to redeem his homeboy Davido’s lukewarm performance at St Louis Festival this previous weekend. Tekno is the brain behind one of the biggest Afro-beats global hits last year Pana.

Tekno was quoted in the media crediting Davido with helping him earn recognition in Nigeria in 2013 by contributing to a verse in the song entitled Holiday. Tekno has since returned the favour by producing Davido’s most recent hit, If.

He will hit Duma FM grounds, the same venue where Davido failed to leave up to expectations, and its now up to the Diana hitmaker to fix the name of the Nigerian Afro pop. While ATI has already established himself as king of performance locally, it will be a mountain to climb for Tekno whose biggest strength lies in production.

The artist who has enjoyed success in Nigeria with Diana and Rara will have a mountain to climb because local artists have recently showed that they can stand up against foreign artists. ATI is more familiar to local audiences and showed Davido how to handle his own home crowd.

While it may seem like a competition for fans, it might also create an opportunity for ATI who recently got a fat and lucrative deal from Botswana Telecommunication Corporation (BTC). There is also the possibility of trying to boost his career with a feature or a remix by a Nigerian artist.

Tekno has already lost an award to Vee earlier this year and he is not ready to lose to a Motswana artist this time around on stage. Besides ATI, other local artists expected at the show are Veezo View, Baxon while DJs include DJ Izzy, DJ Dimples, DJ Root, DJ Khenzo, DJ Cupid, MR Yummy and Liaves. Tickets for students are sold at P200, general is P250; golden circle is P350 while VIP is P1200.
