But they will not take the suspension lying down as they contemplate heading to court.

FRAFA chairperson, Maokaneng Bontshetse said the two were suspended for refusing to submit financial statements to the committee.

“They have been suspended indefinitely. We have managed to change signatories at the bank and we are starting our investigations,” he said.

“We are not saying they are wrong. We just want to establish why the two were refusing with the financial statements.”

Mabutha said the letter he received was vague and does not show the grounds for his suspension. He said he was never invited for any hearing hence he will challenge the suspension.

“I have been advised to challenge this case legally,” Mabutha said. “I am confident that this is not an issue of financial statements as purported. It’s a strategic campaign to prune out people who can stand against wrong.

“I have requested for the minutes of the sitting of the committee that took the decision and once I get hold of them, I will be launching my case through my legal advisor.”

Western said everything about his suspension does not add up. He said he was suspended for not submitting the financial statements to the committee and for a post on the FRAFA Facebook page announcing the appalling state of the committee.

“Maokaneng (Bontshetse) knows about those statements and I am surprised he is in denial. The truth is protocol is not followed in the committee and if you are against the shortcuts then a plan will be hatched to cut you off.

“Teams have trusted me to guard against these ills with their vote and help take football forward. Therefore, I will not sit when I am aware of what is happening, which is why I am ready to challenge the suspension in court.”

At some point, FRAFA vice chairperson, Bashi Gaotlhobogwe was a victim of the fracas when the chairperson ousted him before he was sneaked back into the committee, Mmegi Sport has established.
