The former Botswana National Sport Council (BNSC) board member has been under the spotlight since his appointment in March to replace Kitso Kemoeng who left in December.

The BFA CEO’s position has proved to be a poisoned chalice, with a high turnover over the years. While Malesu said he was going nowhere when contacted for comment yesterday, Mmegi Sport can authoritatively reveal that the BFA CEO is on his way out.

“He tendered his resignation saying his construction business is suffering. It was either he jumped or wait to be pushed,” a source close to developments said. Malesu’s appointment drew mixed opinions, even dividing the BFA National Executive Committee.

BFA president, Maclean Letshwiti found himself at variance with his two deputies, Segolame Ramotlhwa and Marshlow Motlogelwa who were opposed to the appointment.

However, it said Malesu did not get to grips with the rigours of what is largely seen as a political job.

The BFA’s revolving door has seen a high number of CEOs come and go with the association struggling to put a finger on the pulse regarding the worrying turnover. BFA president is reportedly not in a hurry to appoint another CEO, instead preferring to focus on improving the soccer body’s financial position, before he can lure the right candidate.
