Gaucho had been in the Dikwena’s radar since last year before he joined Jwaneng Galaxy from Orapa United.

He was part of the Stars’ 11 new signings presented at the event. The 25-year-old was invited for trials in the off-season after showing sterling performances with Galaxy helping them to their first major title as they won the Mascom Top 8.

Contacted for comment yesterday, Galaxy chairperson Njabulo Gilika confirmed the sale of Sesinyi to Stars but could not disclose further details. “We (Galaxy) decided to wait for them (Stars) to unveil him that side before we could announce it publicly this side. We would not disclose (transfer details); it is between us and Platinum (Stars),” he said.

Gilika further peeped the attacker for greater heights, but bemoaned Galaxy loss. “It is good for him as a player, for us as a team and for the country. Of course he will leave a gap in our team, but I believe we have capable players who can fill it,” he said.

Gaucho would link up with former Zebras gaffer, Peter Butler who was appointed as Stars coach in June. Butler has been long known for his admiration of the player, as Sesinyi received his first national call up under the Briton last year.

Sesinyi follows in the footsteps of the Botswana’s greatest export, Mogakolodi 'Tsotso’ Ngele who moved to Stars from Township Rollers in 2012. Tsotso stayed with the Dikwena until 2015 when he was sold in a big money move to Mamelodi Sundowns. Kabelo Dambe, Moemedi Moatlhaping, Patrick Kaunda and Terrence Mandaza have been in the Stars books before returning to the local scene.

Former Gaborone United striker, Benson Shilongo is the only local league export in the team’s books. Sesinyi increases the number of local exports in the ABSA Premiership to three, with Ngele at Sundowns while Mpho Kgaswane turns out for Baroka FC.

Meanwhile, Gilika confirmed the signings of wingers; Botshelo Mafoko from Sankoyo Bush Bucks, Senatla Molefe from Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Tshepo Borake who returns from a loan stint in South Africa. The trio would be vying for a starting berth left by Sesinyi.
