Highlanders Maintain Top Spot

Real Movers made the first attempt after 11 minutes, when Keleabetswe Gaasitege played a sumptuous through ball for Matlhogonolo Tekeletso who did well on his first touch, but his shot was brilliantly saved by Highlanders shot stopper Lapologang Molathegi.
Highlanders’ real chance came in the 25th minute, when Boikobo Osupile laid a superb pass to the right where Letsile Montsho did exceptionally well to beat the Movers defence and smartly placing the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper. However, the superb effort was cleared off the line by Mogakolodi Segolame.
With a minute to go for break, Highlanders had an opportunity at the opposite end, as Emmanuel Thakadu broke away to set Osupile inside the box but the latter skied his shot wide to sum up the first half.
From the break both teams looked determined to get the lead, Movers had a golden chance on the 65th minute. Thapelo Keitumetse came racing in to get a loose ball in the box but he seemed to snatch the ball and eventually sent a tame effort into the keeper’s clutches. Highlanders made the first substitution bringing in their danger man Temo Keorileng for Montsho.
The substitution looked to have ignited fire in Highlanders attack as they began piling pressure on the host defence. It was not surprising to see Highlanders taking a lead in the 77th minutes. Tumo Keiketlile set Temo Keorileng who controlled well before unleashing a powerful shot outside the box into the back of the net.
Kediemetse Radikoko was shown a red card with five minutes remaining after a harsh tackle on Mogakolodi Balatotse. Balatotse almost added the second but was unlucky to see his stinging long range drive going inches wide with the keeper well beaten.
Highlanders assistant coach, Isaac Masobe said they decided to use a lone striker and pack the midfield in order to deny Real Movers a chance to play.
He said they knew that they would increase the tempo of the game in the second half hence the substitutions. Newly appointed Movers coach Mogakolodi ‘Stix’ Chepete rued missed chances, which he believed could have won him the game. He said they would work on converting chances and being confident on the ball going into their next game.
