Entrepreneur Aims High In Curtains Business

Trading under Leratamang Mapoka Curtains (LCM), the stylish business focuses on custom design, making of fancy curtains for lodges, hotels, offices and homes. The business is currently being run from home at Mapoka village.
Langwane told Business Monitor that she ventured into the production and trading of curtains five years ago. She said like any other unemployed individual she has chosen this avenue so that she can have an opportunity to re-enter the workplace as her own boss. The aspiring entrepreneur said due to her passion and determination, her dream came through in January as she received funding through the Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) programme.
“The Ministry of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs under their WEE programme boosted my business with P93,779 in January. The fund gave a tremendous turn around of massive profit in my business,” she said. Langwane said the business is currently doing well and able to produce quality curtains which can compete at regional level.
She said her business offers a variety of designer curtains using a fabric imported as far as Thailand, Dubai, India, China to mention but a few. She said she produces pinch pleated, sheer, case-heading and eyelet and other types of curtains.
The businesswoman added that she uses different fabrics such as loosely woven polyester voile or cotton lace and uncoated fabrics that give the curtains a special touch.
She said the tailor-made fabrics have contributed to the growth in the demand for the curtains by lots of customers.
She added that she also embroids curtains for commercial needs especially for hotels and restaurants. Langwane said she is planning to start manufacturing cubicle curtains, which are used in clinics and hospitals due to the high demand. She said her curtains are sold at affordable prices and her lowest price is P1,500.
