Jaguars started the season on a back paddle, but things have changed since the beginning of the second round. They won against Gaborone Hogs and the league defending champions, BDF Cheetahs. Jaguars have played six matches, winning two, losing four and failing to pull a draw in the process.

They have scored 99 tries and conceded 123, accumulating 12 points and three bonus points.

Jaguars manager, Feddy Mutenheri is not in denial and admits they started the season on a bad note. He said they are involved in intense training with the intention of finishing the season in a better position.

“It is business unusual at the club especially after our not so good start to the season. A serious turnaround plan has been put in place and we expect results,” he said. Mutenheri said expectations are nothing short of Jaguars upsetting Rhinos. He said with a large pool of young players, he has a strong squad to throw in against the opposition.

Rhinos coach, Mooketsi Ramakele said the midweek game would present challenges as some players would still be at work. He said they would give young players an opportunity to play.

“We have another game against Hogs on Saturday and a return leg against Jaguars next Wednesday. Man management is going to be essential. It is good that Jaguars have picked up their game. It is always nice to have a competitive league,” Ramakele said.

Meanwhile, Botswana Rugby Union has changed the Super rugby format for this season. Clubs are going to play more games when compared to last season. The clubs are going to play each other four times. Cheetahs are still leading the pack with 36 points despite losing to Hogs on Saturday. Hogs occupy the second spot with 20 points and Rhinos are third with 14 points.
