The boy recently appeared before Lobatse magistrate, Thekololo Letsholo and was remanded in custody in connection to the incident. Yesterday, police introduced another accused person on the charge sheet who was said to have been on the run.

The state alleges that Onkarabile Setlhako, 21, alongside the 15-year-old boy attacked Oratile Maokaneng and robbed him of his belongings including cellphones and bank cards before proceeding to stab him to death.

The prosecutor in the case, sub-Inspector Legodile Sennafela of Lobatse Police Station said the juvenile was arrested over the weekend after evading police for a long while.

“The investigation into this case is still fresh and we have not managed to recover the property stolen from the deceased.  We therefore plead with court to remand the accused in custody pending completion of crucial investigation processes in this case. The other accused, the 15-year-old boy. could not make it to court from prison today,” Sennafela said.

Letsholo further remanded the accused in custody until November 20, 2017. In another matter, police said they can only be drawn to discuss bail issues on November 20 in a case in which a 29-year-old Tlhareselele man faces charges of allegedly stabbing his friend to death while on a spree drinking night in Pitsane a month ago.

The accused applied for bail on grounds that  said his daughter needs his care. Sub-Inspector Dumani Chakasala of Ramatlabama Police Station said the State will only be in a position to discuss bail issues in the next mention since investgations were ongoing.
