Four people die in bus collision

In an interview with Mmegi yesterday, Mahalapye police district traffic officer, superintendent Kgosienalerona Sechoni said the accident happened around 4am between Palla Road and Dibete villages.

He said the accident happened after a public transport bus collided with a Nissan March sedan vehicle.

“The accident happened in the wee hours of Monday and it involved a public transport bus which was from Maun heading to Gaborone and a Nissan March which was from Gaborone heading north. The tragic accident happened just near Palla Road,” said Sechoni.

He added all the people who lost their lives; three men and a woman were travelling in the Nissan March whilst only four passengers from the bus sustained major injuries. He said all the deceased were not related.

According to Sechoni, those who sustained injuries were rushed to the Mahalapye Hospital where they were in a stable condition. Sechoni said they still did not know what might have caused the accident, as the matter was still fresh.
