Mahalapye Police Hunting Highway Rapists

The alleged assailants are yet to be apprehended according to the police.

In an interview with the Monitor, Mahalapye police station commander, Superintendent Isaac Mamadi said the incident happened in the wee hours of last Saturday.

“According to the victim’s statement, their car broke down some kilometres just before Mahalapye and they were forced to park it there until morning.

“While still there, two men travelling in another car parked near them. The men approached the duo pretending to be good Samaritans.

“The men told the victims that they had parked at a very dangerous area and offered to take them to a safer spot,” Mamadi said.

He said the two men stopped them on the way pretending that something was wrong with their car. According to Mamadi while the woman’s brother in law and one of the suspects got out of the car to establish what could be wrong, the alleged perpetrator who had gone out of the car quickly got inside and they drove off with the woman.

He said the two parked at a nearby bush and repeatedly raped the woman before they disappeared leaving her in the bush.
