Although BPL board chairperson, Rapula Okaile could not be reached for comment at press time, sources have confirmed that the board has given Ntshinogang’s appointment the thumbs up.

The board has reportedly informed the Botswana Football Association (BFA) National Executive Committee (NEC) about their decision and the NEC acceded.  “What is left now is just to formalise everything through an offer letter,” one source said.

Okaile recently said the process of recruitment had been handed to a recruitment agency, People’s Connections.  At the time, Okaile said they would have loved to have appointed someone on permanent basis before the start of the season but were delayed by circumstances beyond their control.

Ntshinogang’s acting stint is said to have impressed his superiors.  Ntshinogang will be the second permanent CEO of the BPL since the position was introduced some years ago.  The introduction of the position saw the BPL general manager position being phased out.

After Mamelodi’s sacking, the post was linked to several names including newly-appointed BFA regions coordinator, Phuthego Setete. The BFA appointed Mfolo Mfolo as its CEO, which left only the BPL position vacant.

Ntshinogang has been described by some as a shrewd sports administrator, who has already proven his credentials before in the mother body, as well as the Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC). During his tenure as the acting BPL head of secretariat, Ntshinogang impressed after delivering a chaos free BTC Premiership season.

His arrival at the BPL followed a chaotic season, which proved to be the longest seasons in the history of the Premier League, following the Ofentse Nato saga.

He, however faces a recurring branding war, which has been haunting local football for many years.
