FRAFA Independence Cup Receives P65,000 Sponsorship

The two World Group of Companies businessmen, Farouk Sadar and Samuel Mpuchane will be sponsoring the tournament in their individual capacity. Of the P65,000, Sadar has contributed P45,000 while Mpuchane has thrown in P25,000.
Sadar’s company, Wheels Motor Spares, donated a ball to each of the 39 teams that will be taking part in the cup. The winners of the 31 men’s teams will walk away P16,000 richer with runners-ups and third place pocketing P8,000 and P5,000 respectively.
And the winners of the eight women teams will win P5,000; runners-ups P3,000 and the third position will get P2,000. The first round of the knockout games is scheduled to kick-off in August 26 with the final slated for September 30.
In his brief words Sadar, who was appreciated by different speakers at the sponsorship launch held at the Francistown Civic Centre, wished the competing clubs well.
“I hope the tournament goes well and it creates excitement and I wish all the clubs good luck in the competition.”
FRAFA chairperson, Maokaneng Bontshetse revealed that the sponsorship is inclusive of a coaching refresher course for the regional coaches.
He urged the clubs to take the tournament seriously and use it as a precursor for the off-season preparations.
“As a way of improving competition and developing our talent, it is imperative that we don’t leave our coaches behind but it’s been over five years since they received training and that prompted us to request our sponsor to also assist us with a coaching course sponsorship. We received a P10,000 on that regard and we are thankful,” he said.
Bontshetse also encouraged the clubs to be brand cautious at all times so that they appeal to the business community.
He encouraged the club to engage individuals with marketing backgrounds to assist in selling their teams.
“Irrespective of the league that we play in, if our brands are visible we will attract more sponsors as individual clubs and the region. I urge all of you (clubs) to take that as assignment and work on it.”
Unlike last year, when BOT50 sponsored the tournament, the cup has extended to the entire region of FRAFA that is inclusive of other teams outside Francistown.
Meanwhile, a random toss has pitted the defending champions TAFIC with newly registered division two side Mangoma. ECCO City Greens face Somarset Young Tigers, Sua Flamingoes will be home to Chadibe North and first division north rookies Calendar Stars plays Amakhosi to mention a few.
