Ostriches Fire Ndlovu

During his first season, he led them to their first ever major trophy in the Premier League when he defeated Rollers in the Mascom Top 8 final in Francistown. They also finished third in the league that season. Ndlovu missed out on his second Mascom Top 8 trophy last season, going down to Jwaneng Galaxy in the final and went on to finish third again in the league.

However, things turned upside down this season early on with the team struggling to keep up the pace with other title contenders. The Ostriches had made it clear they want to win the league this season having won the Mascom Top 8 before. They kicked off the season with a victory against Uniao Flamengo Santos before they beat Gaborone United (GU) and Gilport Lions, sending a strong signal of their intentions to challenge for the league honours. But they hit a rough patch after their loss to Sankoyo Bush Bucks and have not tasted a victory in five games now, moving from position one on the log to position six after a series of disappointing results.

This weekend the club management announced they have parted ways with Ndlovu, becoming the first coach in the elite league to lose the job this season. Ndlovu’s departure paved way for Daniel Nare who has since joined the club from Miscellaneous. Nare is said to be coming in as an assistant coach while Orapa United still search for the head coach. In the meantime, he will lead the team as they seek to turn their fortunes around. His first assignment will be against Rollers this Saturday. Nare had joined Miscellaneous at the beginning of the season and quickly turned things around. He leaves the team at position three with 14 points, one of their best starts in the Premier League.
