BSA in National Diamond rebuilding project

A section of the National Diamond has been demolished including the pitch to pave way for a road as part of the refurbishment of the National Stadium.

The BSA will use the P750,000 it got from the Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) as compensation for the demolition of the National Diamond to develop a new pitch.  BSA spokesperson, Kabelo Kwape said the pitch will be extended eastwards to the nearby football ground.  He said the association will, as part of the expansion, develop a practice field.  He explained that the role of the task force is to determine the cost of the project and whether it is viable to develop the practice pitch given that there are no water and electricity connections in the area.

'We have asked our two zones; the north and the south to come up with names of people who have expertise in civil engineering and project management who will sit in the task force committee,' he said.

Five people will be appointed to the committee.  Kwape said they have given the zones two weeks to come up with the names failure of which the BSA will hire experts. He said the construction should start before the end of the year.
