Butler is scheduled to perform alongside Kirk Whalum, Canadian-based Mpho Trinity and Amantle Brown to mention but a few.

Through a Facebook video the Grammy Award nominee, Butler was not shy to mention that he cannot wait to be in the country and experience various elements such as the food, music and environment.

“I can’t wait to be back in Botswana. For my second visit it will be with Kirk Whalum it will be unbelievable. Botswana I love you, you know I love you. I can’t wait to see you, taste the food, taste the wine and play some golf, be ready (sic),” said the 55-year-old Butler.

Last year the Lies hit maker staged his debut performance in the country during the same event, which left many pining for more. As a result, the event promoters have invited him again. During his previous performance he did a duet with Tomeletso Sereetsi performing Mariam Makeba’s hit track Pata Pata.

“Jonathan loved Botswana so much that he offered to be a GIMC ambassador in America and Europe. So, he has pledged to help grow the event globally and help us get any jazz artist we want.  His connection with Botswana was one of love at first sight. This year he is going to spend more time in Botswana and go up to the delta and Kasane to experience our tourist sites and enjoy the beauty that Botswana is,” said the event promoter Thapelo Pabalinga.

Butler started his career at a very young age in South Africa. He has performed and travelled around the world. He is well known for his albums such as More Than Friends, Inspirations and Do You Love Me.

Meanwhile there has been a new addition to the GIMC jazz event with locally based Kapenda Katuta making the line up.
