Miss Botswana aspirants to be trimmed to 15

Speaking during a press conference, Pabalinga said the contestants would be reduced to 15 and qualify for the grand finale at the GICC on May 22. The fashion show aspect of Miss Botswana was introduced last year, but this year, it will be a bigger event, according to the organisers.

'Local designers will be able to showcase their skills during the fashion show,' said Pabalinga adding that plans are under way to turn the event into the first ever Botswana Fashion Week. He further said that the contestants have been undergoing rigorous training, learning skills such as ramp modelling and dancing and that they 'will be expected to do what they do best' during the fashion show. Some of the big names expected to perform at the event include the South African duo, Jozi, and local rappers Game 'Zeus' Bantsi, Kgotla 'Juju Boy' Ntsima, Ralph 'Stagga' Williams III, and Kabelo 'K-Boss' Motlhatlhedi. Ordinary tickets go for P300 while P 500 tickets are for VIPs who will in addition have dinner at the Grand Palm. The Miss Botswana winner on May 22 will walk away with a Mercedes Benz SLK convertible worth over P 400, 000, a year's supply of petrol, groceries, beauty products, Gym Active membership and accommodation. The first princess will win P 50, 000 cash and beauty products, while the second princess will walk away with P 10, 000 cash and beauty products.
