Sankoyo Tshwaragano Management Trust gave Ngurungu almost P500,000 to use in the new season.

Sankoyo spokesperson, Baganetsi Kamanakao, who is also making a return to the club, said the 2014/2015 excitement is fast returning at the Maun outfit. He said the target is to bring the Mascom Top 8 to Maun.

“We have realised the Mascom Top 8 brings a lot of excitement and we have pleaded with our coach to target a top eight finish,” Kamanakao said.

The club has managed to re-sign four of their former players. Mascom Top 8 winner, Morris Ruzivo who won the cup with Jwaneng Galaxy last season has returned on a two-year deal.

Gosaitse Manuel who had previously left for Orapa United has also joined his former teammates. Former captain Modiredi Matengu has penned a permanent deal.

Matengu moved to Township Rollers and spent a season long loan with Sankoyo in the previous campaign. Refilwe Senyane who had a stint at Gaborone United has also returned.

From their good relations with Galaxy, the club has also signed Onalenna Molelekwa and Wilfred Dithwane on a season long loan.

“We want to bring back those memories and the enthusiasm that Sankoyo was known for in our first season,” Kamanakao said.

“We have our best players all wishing to re-unite and if we had our way, we would bring all of them back. They loved the team but we could not sustain them because of poor finances.

“We have learnt our lessons and we have a better approach to sustaining our players now. The mindset has changed; even the players that suffered with the club last season are excited.”

Kamanakao said bringing back Mabhena has proved a masterstroke for the club. He said they are enjoying a positive feedback on the club’s Facebook page. “The supporters are happy mostly due to the return of the coach and the way our recruitment has been going. People are excited and the membership registration drive is testament to that. We are reaching the 400 mark soon.” Kamanakao said the club has also been boosted by the arrival of their new mini bus donated by the Sankoyo Trust.

“We are doing everything we can to take our operation costs down and we are happy that on Thursday we will be unveiling our new mini bus,” he said. Meanwhile, the Maun side hosts the Bank Gaborone Dlala tournament this weekend. The tournament is organised in part by retired Zebras ace Diphetogo Selolwane.

Sankoyo will battle it out with Orapa United, BDF XI and Security Systems at the Maun Sports Complex.
