Rollers Suffer P4million Loss

The club’s expenses stood at P9 million but income was at P5 million, Kgabung told Rollers members at the club’s annual general meeting (AGM) in Gaborone on Saturday.
Despite the financial loss, the chairperson said they are happy with how president, Jagdish Shah has transformed the team into one of the best run on the continent with his own resources. He urged the members to stay committed to the club and continue with their support. This was Rollers’ first AGM to be held under the new constitution.
“The club went through tough times before. Therefore, we are happy that now we are one family that is on a mission to see the club grow. We are working on commercialising the club so that it is recognised as a business,” Kgabung said. He said their aim this season is to defend the BTC Premiership title, win the Mascom Top 8 and perform well in the CAF Champions League.
Kgabung said the club is impressed with the overall set up and players get high quality medical attention, good accommodation and have well planned pre-season preparations.
He further implored members to encourage other supporters to register as paid up members, as this will benefit the club financially. He added that their aim is to see the team operating professionally and win all titles this season.
Township Rollers chief advisor, Dickson Gabanakgosi said he is proud of how club members have been conducting themselves after the hard times and it indicates that their professionalism will assist in the growth of the team.
“The team is growing and it is no longer just the Township Rollers we knew before, but a brand which should be driven by passion and love. Therefore, I urge all the members to read and understand the club’s constitution so that they approach issues professionally,” Gabanakgosi said. He said the executive committee was doing a great job and working towards complying with club licensing.
