Zapata Going For League Glory

The Argentine, who has never won silverware with Moyagoleele, told Monitor Sport on Saturday after his side won the Footballers Union of Botswana (FUB) out of contract players’ tournament that he will be challenging for the league honours this season.
“I had a chat with chairman Rapula (Okaile) after we did not win the league and the cup last season. But, everyone knows the financial problems and politics we had last season. I need to win always. Everyone wants to win, but the most important thing is how we play.
We have a style, an offensive style. We represent all the supporters on the pitch by playing good football,” he said. The Reds have been on a shopping spree this transfer window and lured six players including former Zebras midfielder, Dirang Moloi and Thatayoane Kgamanyane from Black Forest, with the latter arriving on P130,000 transfer.
Zapata revealed to Monitor Sport that his side is done shopping after being impressed by the new signings. “They respond positively to my tactics. It does not matter if we win or not; the most important thing is that they respond well. I believe we already have 25 players without a loan move for our players.
I think we are done in this window,” he said. On Saturday, Goitseone Phoko was the hero of the day as he saved two penalty kicks by Police XI to help his side lift the cup with a 5-3 win on penalties.
The tournament was organised by the FUB to give out of contract players game time in the pre-season. FUB select side and Footballers Union of Zimbabwe (FUZ) were knocked out in the semi-finals.
