Winner: Reikeletseng

Winner: Reikeletseng

BNSC representative at the 25th TAFISA congress, Steve Botlhasitse told Mmegi Sport from Seoul that the outcome of the elections means Botswana is represented in the world body, which makes important decisions about Sport for All and physical activity.

“Reikeletseng is also a continental representative. As such Botswana would benefit directly from TAFISA partners, including the training volunteers, which was held in Botswana in June as well as naming Gaborone as an active city,” he said.

Botlhasitse said Reikeletseng’s term is four years, but he could not reveal the number of votes that ushered the commission’s leader into the board, as he said the TAFISA secretariat handled the counting of the ballots.  TAFISA is responsible for traditional sport games, listing of the traditional sport games, documenting them as well as organising world traditional sport games.

As the leading global Sport for All and physical activity umbrella organisation, TAFISA is tackling this challenge head-on.

The 25th TAFISA World Congress is a pivotal moment in the effort to overcome physical inactivity, as it brings together representatives from over 100 countries in an interactive and open environment to discuss, debate and design the best path toward giving the next generation back those precious years of life. Along with opportunities to network, learn and share, the congress would see to the launch of TAFISA’s ‘Mission 2030: For an Active World’.

This Mission would pave the way to influence people, policy and practice to reintroduce physical activity as part of daily life the world over by 2030.
