Francistown was the first region to dissociate itself from reports of a planned Letshwiti ouster. KRFA secretary general, Tico Kamati said they have heard reports, but are not aware of the origins of the motion of no confidence in Letshwiti. “We serve the people of Kweneng and anything that has to be discussed at the general assembly, has to come from them.

Our motions are still internal and we don’t know anything about a motion of no confidence. We are going (to the general assembly) to discuss issues that take football forward and nothing else,”Kamati said yesterday.

BFA public relations officer, Tumo Mpatane said he was equally unaware of any motion of no confidence. “We are preparing for the annual general assembly and in our preparations, we have not received any such news,” Mpatane said. Letshwiti only came into power 12 months ago, but reports are that he faces mutiny from within, engineered by one of his senior committee members.

With BFA holding its annual general assembly next week Saturday, reports of clandestine meetings to elbow the businessman out have emerged. “It might not see the light of day but it is public knowledge that there have been failed attempts in the past to get Letshwiti out.

On one occasion, (Ashford) Mamelodi had to intervene when the president was in Morocco and a coup had been planned.  On the second occasion, (vice president Segolame) Ramotlhwa came in and diffused the situation,” a source told Mmegi Sport.

There is a group opposed to Letshwiti’s rule, arguing he has made monumental blunders, particularly the appointment of chief executive officer, Ookeditse Malesu, when his two vice presidents, Ramotlhwa and Marshlow Motlogelwa had vehemently opposed the choice.

Malesu will depart the BFA at the end of August after just six months into the job, as the high turnover of CEOs at the association, continues.
