Pro- boxing �s affiliation to BNSC in limbo

BNSC chief executive officer, Falcon Sedimo told Monitor Sport that PBAB has met the requirements needed to be an affiliate. He said the challenge is that there are some differences within the body.
“When PBAB approached us seeking affiliation, we gave them the requirements such as that they should have registered with Registrar of Societies and that they should be having active clubs. We then had a meeting where it was established that there were some individuals who had interest in professional boxing,” he said.
Sedimo said those individuals raised concern that they were not notified when PBAB was established. He said BNSC had no choice, but to request the involved parties to go back and sort themselves out. He said they are still waiting for the matter to be resolved. He said it was also possible for the association to be given provincial membership. Speaking during the association’s ordinary general meeting held in Mogoditshane over the weekend, PBAB president Shakes Kebualemang said it is difficult to affiliate with BNSC.
“Despite the Botswana National Sport Council having changed its name to Commission, they are still not versed with professional sport. This is a challenge to us,” Kebualemang said.
He said the other issue was confusion between the existence of Botswana Boxing Association (BoBA) and PBAB. He said they had to explain several times the operations and structures as professional boxing. He added that they had to further explain what they stand for.
“We presented to the BNSC about our activities for the better part of 2016. It is said BNSC would hold its ordinary general meeting next week and we are awaiting their response,” he said.
