Mmegi is informed that charges have been filed against the former CEO before the Mochudi magistrate court over the fatal car accident that happened last November. The case was reportedly registered two weeks ago, and Sejoe is believed to have already appeared for mention.

Police in the area confirmed a case being pursued against the former CEO yesterday, but declined to provide details.

Dikgonnye-Kgomodiatshaba ward councillor Reginah Rakgati, who was travelling with Monyake and survived the accident, however said police were yet to contact her in the case before the magistrate court.

“I do not know what has been delaying the case since the incident, but I have heard that Sejoe recently appeared for mention before Mochudi magistrate court,” Rakgati said. She added: “For a while now, I have not received any update from the police and they have not contacted me to make a statement for the court.”

At the time of the incident, Mochudi Police Station acting commander, Wazha Zambezi told Mmegi that the accident involved a Range Rover with a single occupant, a Toyota Tazz with two passengers and a Toyota Noah, also carrying two passengers.

It was revealed that besides Monyake’s death, three people sustained injuries and were hospitalised for some time.

According to Zambezi then, the accident happened when the Range Rover lost control and struck the councillors’ vehicle outside Gaborone North, near the Belabela Farms turnoff on the evening of November 19, 2016.
