Police Still After Tlokweng Murder Suspect/s

Cecilia July’s (33) badly decomposed body was discovered by a passerby wrapped in a blanket and stuffed in a big bag two weeks ago.

Police have a warrant of arrest for July’s well-known boyfriend who is suspected to be having a hand in her death. 

Reached for an interview, Tlokweng Police Station commander, Superintendent Robson Maleka said even though July was married, she had a well-known boyfriend and they were last seen together.

“We do not know yet if he is the one who killed July, but we suspect his boyfriend who has not been seen since the incident might be the one who killed her because they were lovers and were last seen together. We are looking for him so that we can do DNA tests to match it up with the evidence that was collected at the scene of the crime,” he said.

He revealed that investigations into the matter are still ongoing to establish the suspect(s) behind the horrific acts.

“We do not rule out possibility of a number of people to have been involved because we have established that her boyfriend did not have a car, but July’s body was dumped by a car, as there were car tyre marks near where she was abandoned,” Maleka said.

He stated that the police have embarked on a massive manhunt to locate the boyfriend and have since visited his house several times in Tlokweng where he was temporarily residing to no avail.

“The police have also tried to locate him at his home village (Thamaga) to no avail, even his relatives do not know where he is and have last communicated with him before that incident,” Maleka said.

The police received a report from a passerby who was walking from his cattle post heading to Tlokweng when he saw a big bag dumped in the bush. They also said that her lifeless body might have been at the spot three days before it was found.

July was discovered with her cell phone, weeding ring, spectacles, toiletry bag, ATM cards, Identity card, her underwear and some of her clothes that were soaked in blood. The police also discovered 15 used male condoms and two unused female condoms.

After a day of discovery, July’s family was forced to bury her at Phomolong private cemetery in Gaborone because her body was badly decomposed and mortuaries were refusing to accept it.
