Mamoja Diskie beat Amahot 3-0 in the encounter played at the Francistown Stadium last month. In the match, Mamoja had used Ithobogeng Monnawapula who allegedly was improperly registered.

According to sources close to the developments, Mamoja had not finalised the processes of acquiring Monnawapula’s services from Gabane United after they failed to pay off a clearance fee.

At the time of the encounter, Gabane United was still holding onto the player’s blue book. Mamoja is said to have made a new blue book for the player in order for him to be eligible for their games.

The Gabane club is said to have alerted Hotspurs of the player’s status after the match and acting on the tip-off Amahot launched a protest. The matter was heard before the DFDN executive committee and the secretary general Rapula Gaotlhobogwe said Mamoja were found guilty.

“The verdict is that Francistown City Greens are found guilty as charged. They have forfeited three points and two goals that are given to Mahalapye United Hotspurs.

“They are also charged P1,000 that is wholly suspended considering they do not commit the same offence and they will be given seven days to appeal the matter after they are served a written verdict,” Gaotlhobogwe said.

Mamoja secretary, Gift Keaitse said he believes they have followed due processes when registering the player. He said their options on whether to appeal or not remain open.

“We have heard the judgement, but we are still waiting for the (DFDN) committee to furnish us with a formal correspondence and then after we will meet and map a way forward. We still believe we have followed due processes when registering the player.”

Meanwhile, Mamoja were at the back of a daunting defeat when a winless Maphatshwa compounded their fateful week with a 3-1 beating in Serowe.

The battle at the helm of the log table is heating up as top sides continue to trade punches.

Log leaders BR Highlanders suffered their second defeat when they succumbed 2-0 to chaser Morupule Wanderers in Pilikwe.

Wanderers are now occupying the third position behind cross-town rivals Motlakase Power Dynamos.

Motlakase extended their winning streak to three games this weekend when they beat in- form Green Lovers 3-0 to reduce the deficit at the top of the log table to two points with a game in hand.

Amahot made it six points in their bag in one week after the defaulter case boost. They edged a hot and cold Sua Flamingoes by a solitary goal in Mahalapye.

In Selebi-Phikwe, NICO United were held to a 1-1 draw by Great North Tigers and their cross-town counterparts Real Movers came from 2-0 down to scrap a 2-2 draw against rookies Calendar Stars.
