The match was called off before kick-off, prompting the visiting side, Rangers to take the long drive back to Tsabong.

Speaking to Mmegi Sport yesterday, the secretary for the First Division South, Sidney Magagane said they were expecting the match report from the referees yesterday and can only map the way forward after that.

He said the report should give reasons for the cancellation, which will pave way for his committee to take appropriate action. The game has since delayed the First Division South schedule with the first round initially scheduled to end this weekend. “Our plan was to kick-start the second round next week then play one more round of games the following weekend before we go for Christmas break. However, if we are going to re-schedule this match, it means we can now only play one round of games in the second round before we go for the break,” Magagane said.

He said everything went according to plan in the first round except that there were several complaints from the teams about the performance of referees in the league. He said they received about eight complaints consecutively about the way the referees handled the matches.

He said his committee has since informed the Referees Office that has promised to look into the matter. Notwane are currently sitting at the top of the log standings ahead of this weekend’s matches with 22 points from 10 games.

They are unbeaten since the league started and take on rookies, Broadhurst United, who have proved to be a tough nut despite it being their maiden season in the First Division.

Broadhurst United are in position four with 16 points. Prisons XI who are second, failed to take advantage of Notwane’s draw against Black Peril last weekend. Only two points separate Prisons XI and Notwane at the top.

A victory last Sunday against Mochudi Rovers would have seen the Warders climb to the top but were stunned by the Kgatleng side. Mogoditsane Fighters ensured they do not remain behind in the race for promotion with a victory over Modipane United.
