Speaking to Showbiz, Mpho said at Hope Pageants they are required and encouraged to carry out projects geared towards giving hope to the community. “I chose Mother Eve which is my brain child charity foundation and intends to bring hope to the lives of Mokgalo JSS students by promoting cultural and behavioural skills as well as looking out for their needs,” she said. Mpho said she joined Hope Pageants Botswana because she wants to give hope to people for the future.

“I have always been interested in beauty pageants with a purpose. Hope Pageants is different as it will give me the opportunity to live my dream of giving back to the community,” she said. She added that she chose this boarding school based on her experience from the same school when she was still a boarder and that she understands the challenges that the students are faced with.

She highlighted that experience is the best teacher and as a community, people should come together and unapologetically extend a helping hand to these students as they are the future. “We should be privy to the fact that these students are faced with challenges ranging from negative peer pressure, parental negligence, poor performance and eventually leading to lack of interest in their education,” she said.

Mpho added that due to these psycho-social challenges, the students develop a tendency to disrespect their parents and teachers.

In response to this, Mpho appeals to the nation at large to extend a helping hand towards her charity foundation by assisting financially as she intends to satisfy the needs of the students through purchasing uniforms, toiletries and educational materials. “It’s very important to help our children come to their senses and give education the respect it deserves,” she added.

Mpho highlighted that she strongly has absolute faith that she will take the crown. However, she will still continue with the project even if she does not win the competition. “Whether I win or not, these children need assistance and I wholeheartedly intend to stand up for them to get all the necessary help they can get,” she concluded.
