The former triple and long jumper, has been working for the BAA for more than 10 years. BAA spokesperson, Ipolokeng Ramatshaba confirmed Garenamotse’s resignation. He said Garenamotse left the BNSC employment on Thursday and as an association, they were not aware of his reasons for departure. “He was a BNSC employee and he was only working in our office. So I am not at liberty to tell you why he left.  It is a matter between an employee and employer,” he said.

Ramatshaba said they were still waiting for a replacement from BNSC. He said they expect the replacement to be an individual who has athletics background.  He said the departure of Garenamotse was a huge blow to athletics because he has been part and parcel of development for a long time.

Garenamotse has represented Botswana at international competitions since his debut at the the World Junior Championships in 1996 before he retired in 2010 after competing at the World Indoor Championships.  During his career, Garenamotse won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Meanwhile, BNSC chief executive officer, Falcon Sedimo said Garenamotse’s issue was a human resource department matter and cannot be discussed with the media, as it is about employer and employee relations.
