Sexagenarian commits suicide

The deceased, who resided in Block 9 in Gaborone, has been missing for seven days before his lifeless body was discovered in a decomposed state. It is not clear as to what could have prompted the deceased to commit suicide.

“It is true the deceased was found hanging from a tree by a person who was crossing that stream. Investigations on the matter are continuing to try to establish what could have angered him.

The family of the deceased was forced to bury him on Monday because his body was decomposed,” Gaborone West station commander, Superintendent Howard Modo said.

He said the deceased did not leave any suicidal note and his family had told the police that he did not have any misunderstanding with anyone. The police boss said the deceased was unemployed.

In another incident, police are investigating a case that a standard one pupil of Thabologo Primary School was yesterday hit by a car along Kudumatse road and died on the spot.

The six-year-old was hit by a car when he was trying to cross the road. “The incident happened in the morning.  His mother had accompanied him when it happened.

The driver of the car is in police custody and he is facing two counts, which are causing death by dangerous driving and driving without driver’s license. He will be arraigned today at magistrate court,” Modo said.
