The packages included in the drive start with Bronze, which costs P1,200 annually and comes with the team jersey, Silver which is P2,400 annually and comes with complimentary tickets for all Miscellaneous home games.   The third package is Gold, which is P3,600 annually and comes with a home jersey and complimentary tickets for all home games and lastly Platinum, which is P10,000 annually and comes with home and away jerseys and complimentary tickets for all the club’s home games.

The team’s vice chairperson, Musa Morapedi said during the launch that they came up with the membership drive idea because of lack of sponsors for northern teams. He said the drive was introduced during the club’s annual general meeting (AGM) last month.

“Miscellaneous does not have sponsors so we thought if we could take ourselves seriously by introducing such things, our potential sponsors or investors can take us seriously too. It is really hard for us to run the business without sponsors. So we introduced the drive because we do not want situations whereby our players will boycott training or fail to honour games decrying payments,” Morapedi said.

He added that they even dropped the prices of their jerseys from P250 to P150 to enable many supporters to purchase the merchandise.  He said the executive committee agreed to lead by example by setting themselves a target that they should all enrol in the Gold package. According to Morapedi, the drive already shows success as the launch was graced by a number of people including representatives from other Miscellaneous supporters branches.

He said even the patron of the club, President Ian Khama appreciated what they are doing and promised to support them all the way. Miscellaneous marketing manager, Bakadzi Seoganeleng on her part emphasised the need for people to do away with the assumptions that the club belongs to Bangwato. She said the purpose of the drive was to take the team to the people.

“From here, we shall proceed with the launch at other places where we have branches including Palapye, Selebi-Phikwe, Francistown, Maun, Jwaneng, Gantsi and Gaborone,” she said. Seoganeleng said since their deal with Botswana Life, which has been their technical sponsor, is due to expire they are still negotiating for renewal. She also said they have engaged other investors who she said are promising.

She added that their wish is to support the newly-appointed coach, Chicco Nare so that he can produce the desired results. She said their aim for the coming season is to finish the league in the top eight. Supporters also appreciated the drive.

Amongst them were one of the popular Tse Nala fans, Khumo Manyepeza who said he appreciates the team’s efforts.  He said it was the first time Miscellaneous came up with such a promising initiative saying that it shows how serious they are about staying in the elite league. Tse Nala finished in position 11 last season.
