Barata-Phathi get party name

The Barata-Phathi spokesperson, Sidney Pilane said the long awaited name of the new party might be known this week once the Registrar gives them feedback from the 10 names they submitted.

He explained that the Registrar is expected to give them a response on which names they cannot use. 'Tomorrow (today) he will give us a response to say which names we can't use, especially those that are protected.

From then, we will know which to choose and afterwards put the name on the draft constitution, which we would then forward to the Registrar with other relevant documents. But all along, I want it to be known that we have been and continue to consult Barata-Phathi members countrywide through our legislators and councillors,' he said.

Though Pilane could not reveal the suggested names of the proposed party, he said they initially received 25 names from members, which they trimmed down to 10 as per the requirements of the registration application.
