Systems, Orapa All Square

Both teams opted for pace and ball possession in the opening 20 minutes but both side’s goalkeepers were alert to the danger.

Thulani Gumede failed to thrust his side into the lead in the 21st minute, but the Orapa United goalkeeper was alert to the danger.  Ostriches key striker, Omaatla Kebatho dribbled past the home defence for the opening goal in the 25th minute, following a quick counter.

Orapa proved to be the dominant side in the opening half as they had Systems on the back foot. Omphile Sebolai had an outstanding game in defence for the home side.

Systems introduced Michael Pillar for Omphile Sebolai shortly before Thulani Gumede made way for Buang Dithebe six minutes into the second stanza as coach Thaloba Nthaga looked to re-adjust his tactics.

The Alarm Boys  upped the tempo, but found the visitors unyielding. Lynoth Chikua made way for Thapelo Senoya shortly before Malvin Chipunza found the far right back of the net through a low short for a crucial goal in the 68th minute.

Orapa went out for the kill, but that was not to be as Systems held firm. Systems coach, Nthaga said his team played well and is looking forward to the second leg. “I would say my team played well. We were playing against a strong side. We came here for a win, but I will take the draw home,” he said. His counterpart, Daniel Nare said he has 10 days in office hence he was satisfied with the team’s play. “We were leading against Rollers last week. They came from behind and equalised, the same thing has happened again today. We will have to sit down and see where the problem is. Otherwise I am happy with the result,” Nare said.
