TAFIC are scheduled to play Township Rollers at the National Stadium and Chiefs face Jwaneng Galaxy in Molepolole on the same date as the Super Power Cup. Despite the clash, Cup organiser, Joy Setshedi confirmed their date still stands. She said she has met with the Premiership leadership and the uncertainty has been cleared.

“According to the Premier League, the fixtures that are out are just a draft, the final fixtures will be decided by the BFA assembly and the Premier League has instructed us that clubs taking part in our cup inform them in writing, just in case but we remain confident the cup will go ahead.”

The Botswana Premier League acting chief executive officer, Thabo Ntshinogang also confirmed that the fixtures are a draft but said there is high possibility of the league starting on the set date. “The fixtures are still internal and yes they are a draft. The Premier League board will decide the final fixtures and they will be released after that. As of the cup tournaments that are private arrangements and clashes with the dates of our league, then we would expect them to inform us in writing.” Meanwhile, in the draw for the Super Power Cup held here at the Blue Jacket Plaza recently, Matjimenyenga play Harare’s Dynamos and Chiefs face Bulawayo-based Highlanders.

TAFIC chairman, Thomas Maika said they have met with the organiser and believe the issues of clashing dates will be sorted.

Highlanders chairman, Modern Ngwenya declared his side would meet perennial rivals, Dynamos in the final.  “After our game to prove who the big brother is back home against Dynamos was abandoned recently when we were leading 1-0, fate has it that we prove our greatness in a foreign land,” he said. Dynamos representative, Mafoko Graham said they are coming to Francistown to collect the trophy. He said they would let their players do the talking in the field of play.

Another launch is scheduled for Bulawayo on Friday. Tickets for the tournament are on sale at different tickets selling points across the country. Meanwhile, TAFIC will face off with Orapa United on Saturday afternoon in a pre-season friendly at the old Francistown Stadium.
