B-Blok releases 20-track mixtape

The mixtape is a compilation of songs from about 15 hip-hop artists mostly from Francistown.
It is inclusive of men of the moment ATI, his right hand man, Noello and Perion. All the songs were recorded and mastered at GoHard Entertainment.
The mixtape is billed for December 1, launch at a venue to be announced. B-Block, real names Baboloki Dambe said the launch is deliberately set in order to catch the festive euphoria.
He said the mixtape was conceived to address regressing state of hip-hop in the second city that he hailed as the, ‘heart beat of Botswana hip hop’.
The mixtape was he and his namesake partner at GoHard Entertainment, Baboloki Chakalisa’s idea. He said hip-hop artists in Francistown are at a melting point due to lack of support.
He said the idea is to address the support structures and bring hip-hop alive while at the same time unifying the crème of Francistown hip-hop and Trapalanga artists.
He said the mission is to battle for a niche against well-resourced Gaborone Hip-hop artists. Dambe said the project also improves potential collaborations amongst artists here.
“We are in a challenging environment in the north. We have no Radio and Television here and it is an open secret that we don’t get proper support from these media platforms as much as our counterparts in Gaborone.”
“Not only that, the market is limited, entertainment here is struggling and we have to be able to spread our wings far and beyond and we can only do that together.” He believes the mix tape that is inclusive of club bangers and lyrical hip-hop jams have all the ingredients to rule the game this festive.
He said the title Dry Season is Over sums up their intentions and the potential of the mixtape. “This is our demand to be listened to. We have the best artists here and this is one of the best projects I take pride in since I joined the music industry. I believe it came at the right time and will go a long way.”
“The people that I have worked with invested a lot in this project. We want to leave a lasting impression.”
“With this project I confidently say the ’dry season is over’ for hip hop artists of Francistown,” he said.
