Stanbic commends entrepreneurs

This came after the commemoration of the recent Global Entrepreneurship Week, in which entrepreneurs, innovators, investors, and collaborators from around the world connected, shared ideas, and inspired one another in a bid to propel economic growth forward.

Stanbic Bank Botswana head of marketing, Stephanie Stoneham said without entrepreneurs, there would be few new jobs and little innovation, which would lead to a weak growth and productivity scenario.

“Botswana’s innovators drive progress and prosperity in every sector and industry, and shape a better future for all of us. These are people of every gender, age, and background,” she said.

Stoneham noted that during the recent entrepreneurship week, they celebrated the entrepreneurs’ creativity, hard work, and vital contributions to the communities and economy.

She said Stanbic Bank continues to encourage entrepreneurial spirit and recognises that activities in key emerging markets are a factor that will play a critical part in changing lives and fulfilling aspirations across the country.

She also noted that the Bank strives to extend itself beyond just banking facilities, but rather believes in adding value by providing exposure, information and their expertise to their clients to foster an environment that facilitates their growth and success.

“An example of this is the recent Lionesses of Africa launch to Botswana and Seedstars World Competition in Botswana.”

“Experience shows there is a great deal of opportunity in many sectors and markets if entrepreneurs are to be encouraged to look beyond the short term. Young Batswana who are ready to start something of their own can uplift people’s lives and shape their own destinies,” she said.

As Stanbic Bank, Stoneham said they will continue to encourage entreprenuers from across Botswana and offer them solutions to change the story of their businesses forward for the better.

“The entrepreneurial spirit amongst us as Batswana is strong, and it is up to us to make long term, sustainable and productive use of this. This week, we are reminded to that even more, and to then keep that momentum going,” she said.
