The development has irked BFA president Maclean Letshwiti, who says action will be taken after the company had initially agreed to discount the debt.

“BFA is a public organisation and these are public funds, and it is only logical that people should be brought to book and account,” Letshwiti said.

Initially, BFA was supposed to pay around P2.1 million after Pula Sports agreed to a discount, but it is reported some officials insisted the matter goes to court.

“The company had given the BFA a discount, but some officials had promised to testify in court that some of the jobs claimed for, had actually not been carried out. However, someone somersaulted in court, when initially BFA had agreed to pay a lesser sum,” a source said.

Pula Sports were contracted by BFA to negotiate for sponsorships and they landed the then beMOBILE deal and were entitled to a certain percentage as payment.

Letshwiti said the two are not settling out of court, as there was never a doubt that the BFA had to pay for the services.

He said the association was forced to delay payment after promises that certain officials would testify against the company in court.

“There was never supposed to be a case,” Letshwiti said.

The BFA, already battling a precarious financial situation, now has to dig deeper and find ways of clearing the Pula Sports Marketing debt.

The two parties have to work out a payment plan, as the association is broke.
