High-riding Notwane part ways with coach

“Coach Israel Molao has been temporarily relieved from his duties, performance audit will be conducted to map the way forward,” a statement briefly reads.

The decision comes after new comers, Broadhurst United ended Toronto Boys’ unbeaten streak in a 2-1 loss over the weekend. Notwane at some point opened a five point lead at the top of the log but a four-game winless run, which includes three draws and a loss, saw them drop to the third spot with 22 points, just a point behind log leaders, Prisons XI.

Mmegi Sport could not source more details on the coach’s sacking as the club’s public relations officer, Thomas Motsewakhumo said the management was in a meeting hence could not respond to enquiries.

Notwane have failed twice in attempts to return to the elite league since relegating at the end of the 2014/2015 season after losing 6-4 to FC Satmos in a controversial play-off.

In the past season, the team boasted a six-game unbeaten run and was well on course to gain promotion to the elite league.

However, a loss that saw them drop to the fourth spot at the time, three points behind the then leaders, Sharps Shooting Stars saw coach Kaelo ‘Wire’ Kaelo being shown the door.

Molao is currently part of the national women Under-17 technical team, where he serves as the goalkeeper coach.

He has been juggling his time between his club duties and the national team. The youthful tactician spent more time with Under-17 girls since November 17, only joining Sechaba on some of the training sessions and match days.

Former Uniao Flamingo Santos coach, Blessing Moyo has emerged as an early contender for the job.
