According to Abel Modutlwe of Abistos Promotions the festival will see local Pantsulas fight the misconception built around their ilk that ‘mapantsula’ are associated with crimes such as theft, assault and other social ills such as drug and alcohol abuse.

“We are working with the Pantsula Association in Botswana to prove to the community that mapantsula are harmonious people who love peace and tranquility.

Sepantsula is more like a religion and those are the most loving and accommodative people I know unlike what we see today where young men and boys tarnish the name of mapantsula by drinking, fighting and stealing from innocent people,” he said.

He said that they decided to bring together the legendary pantsulas who most of the local youth look up to such as the disco divas in the likes of Patricia Majalisa, Mercy Phakela, Taboo, Zizi Kongo, Cheek to Cheek’s Phumi Maduna, Winnie Khumalo famed for her song Lazaru, Pamela Nkutha famed for Pampiri Le Motsoko and others.

They would be singing alongside the local Kwasakwasa legend Franco Lesokwane who started off as a pantsula when he was still at the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) before deciding to become a kwasakwasa legend.

The queens of disco are expected to treat the disco die-hard fans with nothing but the best and original disco sounds.

The 1980s musician legends are expected to bring nothing but the best songs that would take the audience back to the early ‘80s.

“The combination of the forthcoming Music Legends Festival at For a Farm in Kumakwane is made up of some of the members of late Lucky Dube, late Jabu Khanyile, Sarafina and other disco legends.

We will also have young professional Botswana future legends on the line up in the likes of Tshepo G, Tyte and Ludwe who also got swallowed by his love for Botswana,” he said.

He promised that they would be having very tight security at the event to ensure that revellers are at ease and enjoy the time there.

The event will be hosted on December 2, 2017. It will start at 6pm till 6am the next day.  Tickets are sold at P150 at the gate, P120 for early birds and P30 for cooler boxes.
