ATI, Dr. Vom to perform in Mozambique

Rea Vaya Travel & Tours chief operations officer, Mmoloki Ossie Mmolotsi said that the road trip will start in Botswana and culminate with a beach festival in Mozambique, featuring leading international artists and DJs.

“Sesolo is an unforgettable expedition that will take travellers from Botswana to South Africa, Swaziland and Mozambique. It will culminate with a Sesolo Island Festival at the world famous Portuguese Islands, where ATI and Dr. Vom will perform,” Mmolotsi said.

He explained that the festival would give the two artists an opportunity to showcase their musical talent outside the country. ATI has been riding on the crest of a wave of the successful launch of his latest album, Envelope.

The album’s hit single Khiring Khorong has been dominating the airwaves, making the rapper a regular feature in music festivals and corporate events.

ATI was also the biggest winner at this year’s Botswana Music Union (BOMU) Awards, bagging six awards, including Song of the Year for Khiring Khorong.

“We also want to use Dr. Vom to promote Setswana culture because he is well known for his dikhwaere songs,” Mmolotsi said.

Dr. Vom’s signature song, Tsaya Thobane has become a national anthem because it became popular at a time when the Zebras were performing very well.

The song gained iconic status during Botswana’s 50th anniversary celebrations when President Ian Khama and Cabinet ministers joined Dr. Vom on stage to lead the nation in song. The festival will attract over 500 travellers from Botswana, Swaziland, South Africa and Mozambique.
