In an interview with Woodhall police station commander, Tebogo Madisa yesterday, he said they are concerned with accidents that happen at the bridge despite clear signs, saying so far they have registered five accidents. He said motorists should be particularly careful during holidays and special events such as next week’s beef festival.

“During holidays and special events, we usually experience heavy traffic at the bridge and we continue to urge the public to be cooperative and patient.

Next week, the International Beef fest will be taking place in Lobatse and we urge all road users across the country who will be coming for the event to be extra careful as we are expecting heavy traffic at the bridge,” Madisa said.

“We have recorded at least five accidents thus far and four were minor whilst one was fatal. A life has been lost thus far at the bridge, but the signs are quite clear when approaching the bridge.

“The signs indicate clearly how to use the bridge, but some motorists choose to bypass the bridge something that leads to accidents. We urge motorists to be careful when approaching the bridge and read signs,” he said.
