The Kgale Hill project, known as Kgale Lake City, is being driven by a partnership involving Arcswana Architects and the Roman Catholic Church, which owns the land around the landmark hill.

A special purpose vehicle, K-Hill Proprietary Limited, has been set up to drive the project, with groundbreaking due next February. Investors are reportedly already lining up to take up ground in the project.

Developers say Kgale Lake City will feature luxury residential homes, including mansions, modern commercial properties and a top-of-the-line hotel. An artificial lake will also be developed behind Kgale Hill, from which the project gets its name.

Kgale Lake City, according to the developers, will feature 1,800 housing units, using the latest eco-designs.

The developers are eager to distance themselves from the ongoing legal dispute over Kgale Farms, situated east of the multi-million pula development.

The Balete Land Board has dragged the community development trust to court, as it seeks the right to land on which commercial developments, including a mall, will be done.

Yesterday, K-Hill’s Thapelo Kebalepile told Mmegi that Kgale Lake City was strictly a partnership with the Roman Catholic Church which had no connection with the Balete land dispute. “We are not involved in that. For us, we are looking forward to the ground-breaking and interest from investors.”
