Boutique Raises Funds For Children Living With Disabilities

In 1981, Camp Hill Trust established Thuto Boswa Rehabilitation Centre. The Centre has enrolment capacity of 35 students, both boys and girls aged between 16 and 35 years. The Centre accommodates people with different types of disabilities ranging from intellectual and physical.

Phetlhe said she would be hosting various activities to raise funds for the students. One of the events in their calendar is the upcoming Candle Light for Charity. However, she is not a stranger to rehabilitation, as she has worked with them previously. In 2016 she donated clothing to the school.

“Because I had not contacted the school prior to bringing gifts, I had more female clothes than males. I didn’t know that males outnumbered the ladies. That is when I promised that I would come back with more gifts.

In the past dating back to 2004 we have coordinated events and donated to several organisations including School for the Blind, School for the Deaf, Toyota Desert Race CSR Student Internship,” she said.

She added that the students urgently needed a school bus as they currently use a 14-seater, which makes school picking and dropping unbearable, as it could not accommodate all the students. The rehabilitation is also said to have shortage of learning materials.

Meanwhile, Phetlhe pointed out that raising funds is not a walk in a park.

She said it is always hard to get corporates and individuals to dig deep into their pockets to help the less fortunate.

She encouraged the corporates and individuals to donate, saying that at the end of the day they will get rewards for their kindness.

In the festive spirit of giving, ESTeRES Boutique Agency will host a Carols by Candle Light for Charity on December 9, 2017 at Thapong Visual Art Centre Gallery.

Phetlhe said the evening would comprise carols by candle light lead by various local artists like  Abigale Isa, Lee, Zanele Tumelo, Tizzile, Fifi Boleseng and more.

“Each artist will conduct popular carols while attendees get to sing along with some of their favourite artists. Corporates that have come on board to make this event possible include CB Stores, GabzFM, Phakalane Lions Club, Samsung Brand Stores APJ and Game City, Digi Print, PnP, ChickenXpress PST and Bank Gaborone.

We commend their commitment to social responsibility. Tickets will sell for P50 and it is required that each individual bring a canned food item on the evening for further donation,” she said.

She urged the public to support the initiative by making pledges and buying tickets and attend the event. She urged the public to go and spend time with Thuto Boswa students saying their time would be the most precious gift they could ever give.
