BDP Gaborone Region Reports Peloetetse To CC

In their letter signed on November 21 by deputy treasurer, Lebogang Mosope, treasurer, Aron Mokgethi and secretary, Ontibile Kgomoyarona, the region says Peloetetse does not respect internal democratic processes and makes unilateral decisions and informs committee members via WhatsApp.

The letter says, “He does not wait for a formal meeting to take place so as to table a matter on the agenda for discussion and resolution by the committee. The chairperson never discusses with the committee any issue about the vehicle which was allocated for the use of the region except one occasion whereby he told the committee that the vehicle needed P10,000 to be repaired. We are too suspicious that he is using the vehicle to run his own things”.

The concerned members say the chairperson undermines other committee members and refers to members in terms of rank and order of importance. The members say Peloetetse does not view them as his colleagues, but keeps on telling them that he is their boss and shows his demeaning attitude towards other members when they differ with him.

“The Gaborone region is suffering because no collective decisions are made and this negatively affects some constituencies. There are instances where the chairperson makes decision on matter which should properly be handled first at the level of lower structures such as branches and wards,” the letter says.

The members also raised a concern that it is difficult as treasury department to raise money for the region because when they approach businesspeople, they found out that the chairperson had already approached them, but he does not declare to the committee except on one occasion.

They also accuse the chairperson of having tried to change signatories at their bank account without any reasons except those known to him, which they felt it was his personal interest, looking at the history of the account. The committee urged party central committee to intervene in the matter urgently.

However, Peloetetse said he is not aware that some members of his committee have written a complaint letter against him to the party central committee.

BDP secretary general, Mpho Balopi said: “The best person to answer you is Tebogo Masire regarding the region. Again our party does not discuss internal issues with the media”.  Efforts to get a comment from Masire were futile, as he was not picking his mobile phone.
