David Bright took over as Zebras coach a fortnight ago, replacing Peter Butler who quit in a huff.

Radipotsane, who was Butler’s assistant, had been asked to hold fort while the Botswana Football Association (BFA) was searching for a substantive coach.

The former Motlakase Power Dynamos coach was reportedly given a short three month contract to handle the Zebras’ COSAFA Cup campaign and the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) two-legged ties against South Africa.

Radipotsane lost his first full game in charge when the Zebras went down 2-1 to Zambia in the COSAFA Cup quarter finals, before defeat to South Africa in the semi-final.

He was immediately replaced with Bright, and was reportedly never informed of the new development.

To rub salt into injury, it is said his booking at a local hotel was cancelled without his knowledge and he had to seek alternative accommodation.

It is unclear if Radipotsane has been paid what is due to him, but was reportedly seeking a meeting with the authorities at BFA.

Radipotsane flatly refused to comment on the matter.

“I don’t want to discuss anything. I do not want to comment,” he said curtly.

BFA public relations officer, Tumo Mpatane said as far as he was concerned they had parted amicably with Radipotsane, who was informed of the decision by the chief executive officer, Ookeditse Malesu.

“To my knowledge he was informed. He met the CEO and everything was explained to him. (Regarding the cancelled booking), he stayed at Tlotlo and decided to break camp. He never had a contract, he was brought in on an interim basis and was given a letter of appointment.

We did not do anything wrong from our side. Boyo is still a brilliant coach, and we hold him in high regard looking at his contribution,” Mpatane said.
