Guest speaker, Golesedi Mmadintsi from Sugar Industries hailed the event organisers for bringing a fun filled event and uniting the Kokotsha community and nearby villages during the holidays.

He said it was evident that the event was a community project as it engaged ex-convicts in the race as a way of rehabilitating them to fit back into the society.

He called on the corporate world to invest and sponsor the event in an endeavour to encourage sports as a business and create employment for the youth. Mmadintsi further encouraged the organisers to erect permanent structures at the new grounds to enable small businesses to benefit during the race.

“I will also encourage you to demarcate and make camping sites to cater for people from outside. It is important to also go out and benchmark from other successful horse races,” Mmadintsi advised. The event, organiser, Kabo Medupi said it was the first time as Kokotsha community horse racing association to host a successful competition.

He said they managed to secure the presence of horses from Charleshill and top horses, which are regulars at the Mascom Derby and Gantsi show.  He pleaded for sponsorship to build horse stables and improve the tracks at the new grounds. Medupi acknowledged the spectators for the massive attendance and the small businesses for their cooperation at the event.
