BDF Cheetahs lead the pack with 21 points followed by UB Rhinos with 12 points while Gaborone Hogs have nine. Jaguars have conceded 95 tries against the 60 that they scored.

Jaguars were a force to reckon with a few years ago when they were promoted to the then Botswana Rugby Union (BRU) A Division League.

That is now history as the side has become a pale shadow of themselves. The only achievement for them this season was winning the BRU Knock Out Cup, which was their first silverware since their establishment. Despite having some of the best players in the league, a win has remained an elusive challenge for the Block 8 based club.

Jaguars technical director, Feddy Mutenheri said his side is going through a rough patch and that can happen to any club.

He said they have been working hard during the international break and that work is expected to bring results soon. He said they do not have anybody to blame for their poor display because they made mistakes that cost them.

“We have made our bed and let us lie on it.

This is just a phase and it will pass. You must remember that Jaguars is comprised of inexperienced players. They made mistakes when under pressure and our opponents capitalised on that,” he said.

Mutenheri said the second round of Super Rugby League is going to be different for his charges. He said during the break, they have been working on the back-line amongst other departments. He said with a top-notch back-line, their opponents must watch out because Jaguars are targeting the championship.

Meanwhile, the BRU league was supposed to resume tomorrow with Jaguars facing off against Rhinos. Cheetahs were to play against second placed Hogs.

Unfortunately, the games are not going to proceed due to a clash with the finals of Botswana Integrated Sports Association (BISA) finals. BRU secretary general, Ernest Mantsi said the BISA finals start tomorrow with the junior secondary schools rugby with the senior schools finals being played the following weekend. He said as a Union they agreed to share resources with BISA hence the decision to scrap off league matches.
