Puma unveils inventive aviation fuelling system

E-aviation is a fully automated system that offers instant guarantee of accurate fuel tracking, recording, management and invoicing thus increasing efficiency within the airline.
The system was successfully piloted at Air Botswana, Debswana, Botswana Defence Force (BDF) and Botswana Police Services (BPS) last year.
It has been implemented at Kasane, Francistown and Maun as well as Sir Seretse Khama International airports.
Ghana would be the second country in Africa to launch the system next year followed by other countries in Africa.
Speaking during the launch recently, permanent secretary to the president Carter Morupisi said the introduction of the system would aid in the efficiency and further growth of all sectors married to aviation.
“E-aviation system improves fuelling experience as it reduces manual processes, increasing productivity and mitigating risk whilst enhancing the relationship with the customer,” he said.
According to Morupisi, transport and energy sectors are an integral part of the industrial development of every country noting that air transport is an increasingly essential component of the global society. In addition, he said it is also a crucial driver of economic, social and cultural development worldwide as it supports roughly 60 million jobs while generating more than 2.4 trillion dollars in global gross domestic product, according to Forbes 2016.
“Aviation provides the only rapid worldwide transportation network, making it essential for global business and tourism, thus facilitating economic growth. International aviation is forecast to experience significant developments including continued rapid growth in passenger and air cargo demand,” he said.
In addition, Morupisi said with guidance and partnership of international partners such as International Civil Aviation Organisation (ACAO), International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana (CAAB), Botswana is tasked with the responsibility of ensuring that from end to end, our proposition to the world is nothing short of world class.
Puma Energy Botswana general manager, Mahube Mpungwa said their innovative fuelling system would have a significant impact on the aviation market.
“This is in line with the direction the aviation industry is going as guided by the global trends and standards.
The advancement of digitalisation is already having an enormous impact on aviation today and will grow significantly in the future,” he said.
Puma Energy has demonstrated its commitment over the years through investment in infrastructure that includes P30 million in storage facility at Maun International Airport and over P15 million in refuelling equipment at all the country’s airports replacing tractors with vehicles to improve the turnaround time of refuellers. Puma Energy Botswana operates 42 retail sites across the country with their products including fuels, lubricants and liquefied petroleum gas.
